Run Free Texas offers a free running program to at-risk youth with the goal of lowering the recidivism rates in the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. At the end of our twelve-week program, the youth are required to complete a 5K race in order to graduate.
We requires the youth to participate in the 5K for multiple reasons: it gives the youth a goal to work towards, it pushes the youth beyond their comfort zone and it shows the youth that they are far more capable than they imagine. It is amazing to see the faces of our youth after they run 3.1 miles!
Run Free Texas does not require the families to pay the entry fee for the 5K and is having a car wash on Saturday, May 16th, at 1901 Palm Valley Blvd in Round Rock from 11 AM to 1 PM. This fundraiser will help offset the cost of 5K and will help the youth to understand that hard work can have positive outcomes. The youth from our ongoing programs in Round Rock and Cedar Park will be there and it will be a day full of fun! Any donation will be accepted and greatly appreciated! Come support our youth us and spread the word to your friends, families, and neighbors!
